14 February, 2010 marks another milestone for the catholic church in Vanuatu as they put up a state celebration for the ordination of their new bishop in Parliament Park, Port Vila.
John Bosco Baremes from Bouganville was nominated by πope Benedict the 16 late last year by a letter, to head the catholic church in Vanuatu.
Over 5000 people attended the celebration which includes the Head of state, government ministers, Anglican bishop, VCC president, EU representative, port vila counselors, catholic members and leaders and other denomination members.
The program started around 8 in the morning when the guest arrived and were greeted at the gate and guided to their seat. The park was really parked and united in singing as the bishop elect was led to the stage by custom dancers from Tanna. They presented him to Lamap dancers who led him and priests and deacons to the stage. Below are some pictures taken by Gibson, Journalism student VIT.
